Setting Delays Between Follow-ups

How to configure timing between email steps in a sequence.

Each step in a sequence (from step 2 onwards) has a delay that determines how long Mail Maya waits after the previous step before sending the next one.

How to set a delay

In the Sequence step of the campaign builder, each follow-up step has a delay field. Set the number of days and optionally hours. For example, a delay of 3 days means the follow-up goes out 3 days after the previous step was sent to that specific lead.

Recommended delays

  • Step 2 (first follow-up): 2–3 days after step 1
  • Step 3 (second follow-up): 3–4 days after step 2
  • Step 4 (final bump): 5–7 days after step 3

How delays interact with sending windows

Delays are calculated from the moment the previous email was sent. However, the follow-up is only dispatched within your configured sending window. If the delay expires outside the window, Mail Maya queues the email for the next available window slot.

Tip: Shorter gaps between early steps (2–3 days) keep your name fresh while the lead still has context. Longer gaps later show patience and professionalism.
