Using Custom Fields
How to store and use extra data about your leads.
Custom fields let you store any additional information about a lead beyond the standard fields (email, name, company, title). You can then use these in your emails for highly specific personalisation.
Examples of custom fields
- recent_funding — the company's latest funding round
- tech_stack — technologies they use
- mutual_connection — a shared contact
- pain_point — a specific challenge relevant to your offer
- location — city or region
Adding custom fields via CSV
Add extra columns to your CSV before importing. During the column mapping step, map each extra column to a custom field. Mail Maya will store the value per lead.
Using custom fields in email copy
Reference a custom field in your subject line or email body using double curly braces:
I saw {{company}} recently raised {{recent_funding}} — congrats!If the field has a value for that lead, Mail Maya substitutes it in. If the field is blank, the variable is replaced with an empty string.
Tip: Even one well-researched custom field per lead can dramatically increase reply rates. A reference to something specific about the prospect shows you have done your homework.
